The WHO's International Advisory Committee meeting on Non-Ionizing Radiation (IAC on NIR) will be held from June 11-13, 2024, at the WHO Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
The IAC on NIR is a key component of the WHO's efforts to address and manage health risks associated with non-ionizing radiation which includes electromagnetic fields from sources such as mobile phones, power lines, and various household appliances. These activities aim to protect public health by minimizing harmful exposure to non-ionizing radiation and promoting safer technologies and practices.
We are proud to announce that CIE Past President Peter Blattner will be presenting a brief talk on CIE's recent and upcoming activities relevant to the WHO’s work and mandate.
CIE is honored to contribute to health-related topics and to provide valuable insights on non-ionizing radiation, furthering understanding and standards related to its impact on health.
The schedule of the meeting is below:
- 11 June (PM) and 12 June (AM): Session on electromagnetic fields
- 12 June (PM): Session on NIR topics (common to EMF and optical)
- 13 June: Session on optical radiation (including UV)
